In an effort to stay connected with high school graduates and college
students, the Diocese of New Hampshire is
launching a new website this summer, www.nhepiscopalstudents.org. It
offers one centralized web presence for the
five campus ministries across the state, with a profile page for each
ministry site as well as space to post
information about diocesan, provincial and church-wide events.

Because fewer schools are collecting and distributing information about
 the religious preferences of students,
nhepiscopalstudents.org also contains a web form, where students (or, with
their permission, parents & clergy) can
input their home and school contact information, their home congregation
(if any) and the school where they will
attend. The information automatically feeds into a Google spreadsheet,
which becomes a central database of college
students in the diocese, as well as students from New Hampshire
 congregations attending school elsewhere.
Diocesan staff will forward student contact information to the campus
ministers at the various schools and help
students stay connected during their transition to or through college. We
are currently in conversation with other
chaplains from Province I about expanding this effort to include students
and schools throughout New England.

The site was built using WordPress, an open source blog software, with the addition of the events category
plugin and category page plugin. The design is a customization of the
Atahualpa theme. The form was built using
Google Docs, and it stores data into a Google Docs spreadsheet. The
project was created by Kelley Muir, a member
of the Diocese of New Hampshire's Youth & Young Adult Commission, as a
pre-formation project of Float Left Labs
, a New Hampshire-based non-profit media house, which
employs college students to complete
projects for other non profits. If you're interested in developing your own media presence, feel free to contact Kelley.

Canterbury Cafe

Cafe Canterbury by Max Williams, Texas A&M University

In campus ministry, one finds oneself trying anything possible to get people in the door.  From free food to a couch to crash on late at night while studying to a TV with cable.  When it comes down to it, students (and young adults as a whole) are going to gravitate to places that are centers of welcome and places that will accept them in the midst of the stage of discovery that they are in .... >>>

St. Jamesians

Meet the St. Jamesians by Kate Salisbury, St. James Church in New York City

I was recently explaining to somebody that one of the nice things about using the Lectionary is that, if one were to participate fully in our worship for three years, one would hear most of what the Bible has to teach us about our faith. At St. James’ Church, we take a similar approach to planning the calendar for our 20s & 30s group... >>>

Does it fit?

Does it fit? by Miguelina Espinal, Pastoral Leadership Search Effort (PLSE)

On June 1-4, a wonderful group of young people of color met at The University of the South, Sewanee, TN to explore ministry in community while celebrating their cultures. The Does it Fit Conference, a collaborative effort between the Ethnic Ministries Offices and the Pastoral Leadership Search Effort-PLSE, was a rich experience ... >>>
